OVERVIEW

How did he get into the leather industry?

Janos did his studies in Martfű in the field of shoe upper manufacture. Unfortunately, the shoe industry qualification was terminated. His parents wished for him to move to rubber processing, but instead he developed an interest in leather. During shoe assembly training, the workflow of leather processing and finishing were also discussed in detail. he previously worked for the Shoe Factory in Martfű and Eagle Ottawa is his second workplace. His colleagues recommended the company to him and he is now working in the cutting area.

He has been working at Eagle Ottawa for 13 years.

What is his working area in the leather industry?

He was a technician before, but is currently responsible for yield, determining the useful area of finished full hides to be used for cut parts. It’s important to avoid natural leather defects and marks in order to achieve quality products. He does little physical work, but on the other hand, he bears great responsibility.

What challenges does he face during work?

It’s always a challenge to keep the focus on product quality and to avoid concentrating only on yield/gain related aspects. Working in groups as a team player and having a non-monotonous work can also present challenges.

What sort of qualifications does he own to fulfill this position?

He didn’t recieve any specific training at the company, as training is an on-the-job process – you get trained during your work basically. This training is verbal and are delivered while working.

What is his advice to those colleagues who wish to learn his kind of work?

They should be demanding in their work, to produce quality products.

What does he appreciate in his work?

He considers his work to be interesting and diverse. During his 13 years, he’s encountered numerous new products and novelties.

He finds the future of the company and field of interest to be reliable and he has regular opportunities to grow and evolve his skills, such as new technologies and machinery.
