OVERVIEW

1.    How did you come to the leather industry?
I graduated from the Industrial high school for Construction. Immediately, after completion I was hired on a construction site. The rigors and requirements of the construction activity did not fit me. Advised and encouraged by a cousin and a neighbour, I decided a reconversion. In 2000, I was hired in a tannery where I worked until 2003. At the workplace, I started to learn the craftsmanship of leather processing and I started to like it. After a while the factory closed. I was then hired to another of a similar profile. After some time, an opportunity emerged to work at the Leather and Footwear Research Institute - leather pilot station, where I am still working.
2.    What is the job that you are performing in the leather industry?
Leather Technician.
3.    What qualifications or training did you do to be there?

Practice at work, training courses offered by the employer.

4.    What do you most appreciate in your job?
In the Pilot station, various leather assortments are made. The end product must conform, coincide with expectations; so you have the confirmation that your work was not in vain.
