OVERVIEW

1 - How did you come to the leather industry?

My high school chemistry teacher instilled in me the love for this subject matter so I studied chemistry. I wanted to study in a romantic city and so did my friends. I wanted a waistcoat so much and I wanted to learn how to make one. And that is how I ended up at the Faculty of Chemistry in Iasi, the Leather, Fur and Substitutes department, with the lifelong friends. This was the beginning of a period of over 30 years in the tannery, years in which I discovered a fascinating world, good and bad, and a job that combines engineering and art, tradition and technique.

2 – What job are you performing in the leather industry?

After 30 years, in which I have learned virtually all activities that take place in a tannery, I now monitor production, contracts and external deliveries, I coordinate research and innovation activity (national projects, Eurostars, Eureka) as well as the activity of the human resources department.

3 - What qualification or training did you do to be there?

I studied at the Polytechnic Institute of Iasi, Faculty of Chemical Engineering of Products from Textiles, Leather and Substitutes.

4 - What do you (most) appreciate in your job?

The diversity, the numerous possibilities of having useful yet aesthetic goods, the new situations that challenge you on a daily basis to find solutions.

I like the diversity, the numerous possibilities of having useful yet aesthetic goods, the new situations that challenge you on a daily basis to find solutions.
