Description
The Collective Labour Agreement for the Tanning Industry, signed between APIC (The Portuguese Leather Industry Association) and FESETE (the Federation of Trade Unions of Textile, Wool, Garment, Footwear and Leather Workers Trade Unions of Portugal), dates back to the 1950s, when APIC was founded.
This agreement aimed to regulate labour relations in the tanning industry, taking its specific features into account.
At the outset, it envisaged a large number of occupational categories, due to the major division of labour and the low industrial mechanisation.
The agreement was extensively revised in 2017, to adapt to the current reality of the Portuguese tanning industry.
O Contrato Coletivo de Trabalho da Indústria de Curtumes celebrado entre a APIC - Associação Portuguesa dos Industriais de Curtumes e a FESETE - Federação dos Sindicatos dos Trabalhadores Têxteis, Lanifícios, Vestuário, Calçado e Peles de Portugal, teve a sua origem na década de 1950, por altura da criação da APIC.
O contrato surgiu para regulamentar especificamente as relações de trabalho na Indústria de Curtumes tendo em conta as suas particularidades.
Inicialmente previa um grande número de categorias profissionais, fruto da grande divisão do trabalho e de uma menor mecanização da indústria.
Em 2017, o contrato sofreu uma grande revisão para o atualizar à realidade atual da Indústria de Curtumes Portuguesa.
